Failure is tough, and it is something that no one ever looks forward to. Have you ever woken up in the morning and looked forward to failing a test, failing a task, or failing a personal goal? No, I am sure that you have never looked forward to failure and neither have I. However, failing at something is a part of life. In fact, experiencing failure is a very important part of life. Optimists see obstacles as opportunities to get better and to grow stronger. People who are not optimists see obstacles as opportunities to potentially fail. You will not be able to properly move forward when you dwell on failure. You simply have to make it your mission to bounce back from your disappointments, and here are some reasons why you bouncing back from your setbacks will help other people:
Giving Hope
Simply put, you will pave a way for other people to feel hopeful about their own situations when they see that you overcame personal and professional setbacks. I believe that there are people everywhere in the world who have experienced similar issues to what you are dealing with now. In fact, the reason why we each experience certain obstacles is because we will need to use those experiences to help other people in the future.
Gaining Confidence Through Taking Chances
Have you ever wondered what the world would be like without the Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant franchise? I have, and I think the world would be hugely lacking if KFC was not part of it. In order for the KFC franchise to exist, it had to be started. KFC was started by Colonel Harland David Sanders, a man who faced multiple losses, disappointments, and setbacks in his life. The KFC franchise was launched when Sanders was a senior citizen. Most people are looking to retire when they become seniors, and starting businesses are usually the last things that they would want to do. Thank goodness that Colonel Sanders decided to take a chance on himself to start Kentucky Fried Chicken.
Gifting Other People
That delicious chicken with the distinctive yummy flavour. Creamy macaroni salad that melts in your mouth. Those thick, soft, and warm French fries that taste just right with a generous dose of ketchup. And, the burst of flavour when the KFC coleslaw hits your tongue. Good gravy, can you imagine this world without Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurants in it? I sure can’t! KFC is a treasured gift to all of the people who have been customers of the brand. I have eaten KFC meals as a child, as an adult, in North America, on vacation in the Caribbean, at malls, at airports, at picnics, and at all types of venues. And, although I have enjoyed every bite of the KFC meals that I ate, what I appreciate even more is that over 1.5 million people work for KFC today in many countries worldwide, and millions of others who have worked for KFC in the past. Because of Colonel Sanders following his dream in spite of the obstacles, people are still benefiting from his initial efforts today even 40 years after the Colonel’s death.
Creating New Pathways
When you bounce back from setbacks and move forward from your disappointments like Colonel Sanders did, you could be opening doors of opportunity for yourself and for other people. It is hard to see the future and focus on good things when you dwell on disappointments. You are not helping yourself or anyone else when you spend more time focusing on what did not work for you instead of focusing on what you actually learned from the experience. The cliché about there being a silver lining to every cloud is true; there is always a good lesson that you can learn from a challenging circumstance. Setbacks do not determine your destiny, and always remember that you always have the option to rise above adversity if you so choose to. The choice is YOURS.
What would the world be like if you took a chance on yourself and owned your path? Create choices for yourself. This is the time to sharpen your saw, and you can sharpen your saw while other people are resting. When you do something today that your future self will thank you for, you might find that other people will be moving forward with you and thanking you as well when you succeed because you chose not to focus on dwelling on failure. Most people don’t want to be proactive; they want to be reactive. However, when you react the right way to your situation and focus on the opportunities that you can create, you will be making the right proactive steps and changing the course of your future for the better.
